a complete transformation in lufkin texas

From Colonial to French Country Farmhouse

FULLY REMODELED HOME

This home, set on a beautiful five-acre property in Lufkin with tall pines and a peaceful pond, belonged to a sweet young family with two children. While they loved the layout, the house itself—built in the 1990s—felt dated and formal. With towering Corinthian columns and an oversized roofline, the traditional Colonial façade didn’t reflect their style or the cozy, welcoming home they envisioned.

We reimagined the exterior, transitioning it into a warm French country farmhouse. The transformation began by removing the imposing two-story columns and replacing them with a wide, single-story front porch—more inviting and family-friendly. A new stained double front door, stained tongue-and-groove pine ceiling, shutters, and matching windows across the front created balance and charm. Fresh paint and soft, stone-lined flower beds added to the welcoming curb appeal. To give the house a true farmhouse feel, we designed and added three front dormers, bringing both character and natural light.

Inside, the family wanted to take advantage of unused attic space. Micah designed a creative solution with an L-shaped staircase tucked into the layout, illuminated by windows in a newly added rear dormer. On the third floor, we expanded the space into a multi-purpose game room and TV room, complete with built-in bunk beds. We also carved out a cleverly placed bathroom, fitting it seamlessly under the sloped roofline without sacrificing function.

The result is a complete transformation: a home that feels warm, inviting, and perfectly tailored to the family’s lifestyle. What was once a formal Colonial now stands as a charming French country farmhouse, full of thoughtful details and designed to grow with the family.
